One of the largest cities in Peru, Trujillo, like many of Peru’s cities, is full of historical and archaeological sites. The impressively large site of Chan Chan, the largest adobe city in the world, is a city within a city – uncountable walls, buildings and structures make up the site, so large that only part of it can be visited. Also on the outskirts of the city are the Moche adobe ruins of “Huaca de la Luna and Huaca del Sol”. Huaca del Sol should be appreciated for its sheer size and scale, whereas tours of Huaca de la Luna show amazingly detailed and well preserved red, white and yellow wall paintings and decorations inside the pyramid structure. The city centre of Trujillo itself is a cool blend of colonial architecture and modern style, with excellent restaurants.
